Financial Assistance

Our commitment to educational equity is a fundamental component of the Fuqua School philosophy and a core belief of Mr. J.B. Fuqua when he founded the school. To help us objectively assess what a family can contribute to educational expenses, Fuqua uses FACTS as a trusted thirdparty resource. A FACTS processing fee is required with submission of application. Notification of financial assistance awards are released after the application is verified through FACTS. Decisions about admission and financial assistance are two processes that are distinctly separate. Financial assistance is granted on a first come, first serve basis and funding for this program is limited.

Family Referral Program

One of the best ways to help Fuqua School is by sharing your experiences with your friends and co-workers. Word of mouth from a trusted friend is the number one reason new families come to Fuqua School.  Use the Family Referral Program and when your referred family enrolls, you receive a $425 incentive toward tuition. Invite your friends to join you for one of our events on campus.  Suggest their children shadow our students for a day to gain the true Fuqua School experience.  For more information regarding our Family Referral Program, please review the New Family Referral form below and contact Admissions.

Scholarships

In an effort to create a more inclusive and culturally diverse school community. Fuqua School has developed a scholarship fund for African American students from Prince Edward County. These scholarships, made possible by support from the Jessie Ball Dupont Fund, Fuqua School and private donors, will be awarded annually based on funds available at the time of admission. All African American students from Prince Edward County admitted to Fuqua School will be eligible for this scholarship.
The Education Improvement Scholarships Tax Credits Program has expanded education opportunities for thousands of Virginia students and families. At doe.virginia.gov prospective parents and donors can find a list of scholarship foundations with descriptions and contact information.

The family of William Carrington Sprouse would like to honor him and his devotion to Prince Edward Academy and Fuqua School. In his years here, W.C. was a band member, multi-sport athlete, and class officer. He played basketball, golf, and football, serving as Captain of the Varsity Football Team and being inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012.

He and his wife Betty were both PEA graduates in the class of ‘72, and she later taught at the school for over 20 years. Together, they made it a goal to achieve the Legacy Circle of Fuqua donors, contributing over $100,000 to the school. Their sons, Scott and Jay Sprouse, are members of the Fuqua classes of ‘2000 and ‘2003, respectively, and carry on their father’s legacy of leadership, sports participation, and giving back to Fuqua.

This scholarship, in the amount of $500, will be presented annually to a new incoming freshman or sophomore who demonstrates leadership, sportsmanship, and school spirit. It may be renewed each year if the student continues to meet the requirements.

In addition, recipients must

  1. Have played on a school or recreation league team.
  2. Have shown school spirit and leadership in their most recent school setting
  3. Have earned a 3.0 Grade Point Average
  4. Plan to participate in a Fuqua sports team each year during their time at Fuqua
  5. Write an essay of 200+ words answering the following prompt:

How have you demonstrated the qualities of leadership, sportsmanship, and school spirit that were so important to Mr. Sprouse? How do you plan to continue your participation in sports and school organizations once you join the Fuqua School community? Please be as specific as you can.
