Summer Reading & Math
Fuqua School's Summer Reading
We will not have required summer reading assignments except for several AP Courses in English and Social Studies (see below). For the Upper School student body at large, we encourage students to read books they will thoroughly enjoy.
As an incentive, our librarian Mrs. Reynolds has created a summer reading program that allows students to track how many minutes spent reading this summer, in 10-minute increments. You may read any book of your choice, and for every 10 minutes of reading time (or every 20 minutes of audio book listening time), you earn a Falcon coin. Earn double the points if you read a teacher-suggested book (see attachment). The students with the most coins will win a prize. Multiple members of our faculty contributed title suggestions, but students can read any book they find suits their age and reading level, whether it’s fiction or non-fiction. There will not be assignments for this choice reading.
We hope this summer’s student choice option will help to nurture a love of reading that will last.
